ATTENDANCE POLICY It is the English Department's policy not to allow more than 3absences for a student in a freshman composition class that meets four times a week. Any student who is absent for more than 3 classes for whatever reason including illness will not receive credit for the course.
GRADING POLICY Your grade will be based as follows: (1) themes--60%; (2) final--20%; (3) class participation (including arriving to class on time)--20%
POLICIES ON PAPERS Unless I indicate otherwise, all papers should be about 1,000 words in length, typed, and double-spaced. I will take off points for papers that are sloppy, riddled with spelling and typographical errors, or handed in late (1/2 a letter grade for each class period missed). In computing your final grade, I will take into account improvement in your writing skills developed during the course of the semester.
