ATTENDANCE POLICY       It is the English Department's policy not to allow more than 3 absences for a student in a sophomore literature class that meets once a week.  Any student who is absent for more than3 classes for whatever reason including illness will not receive credit for the course.

GRADING POLICY       Your grade for the second half of the semester will be based as follows:  (1)exam--30% (2) final--30%; (3)7 page paper--20%; (3) class participation (including arriving to class on time)-20% .  I may supplement all of this with quizzes if the situation necessitates.  Your grade for the course will be based upon the average of the two grades you have received for both halves of the semester.

POLICIES ON PAPERS        All papers should be typed and double-spaced.  I will take off points for papers that are sloppy, riddled with spelling and typographical errors, or handed in late (1/2 a letter grade for each class period missed).  In computing your final grade, I will take into account your improvement  during the course of the semester.
