VI. Find
Articles from 2000 to present on the
Accuracy of Blood Pressure Measurement Techniques
1.
We could start this search by doing a phrase search in CiNAHL for the
phrase "accuracy of bllod pressure measurement techniques".
However, that produces no results as we can see below. So the best thing
to do is to start using the CiNAHL heading.
2.
We choose CiNAHL headings and then enter the main concept, in the case
"measuring blood pressure." Choose "Relevancy
Ranked" and select "Browse."

3.
We then get the display of all available headings. Two of the headings
look pertinent, "Blood Pressure Devices" and "Blood
Pressure Determination." In both cases I have chosen to explode
the terms and to make them major concepts
in the bibliographic records.
4. I
have then added to two terms to the search by selecting the "or"
operator and then clicking on the "Add" button
5. This
search produces almost 900 possible papers, more than we would want
to go through. So it's time to modify this search.
6.
In order to modify the search we need to add the second concept which
is accuracy. Note that I have truncated accura* so
that we will get results that include accuracy and accurate. When this
search is run we are reduced from 900 records down to 169. Still a bigger
set that I want to look at so it's time to indtroduce the concept of
articles from 2000 to the present.
7. To
"refine" our results we click on the "refine"
tab. To ensure all of our results are from 2000 and on we place 2000
in the publication year box. I have also slected "peer
reviewed" to specify that all the papers must be peer
reviewed.
8.
Next I go through my 103 results slecting all of the papers that are
pertinent to my research. If the Citation isn't enough to determine
iof this is an article I aminterested in then I select the title to
go the full bibliographic record. All pertinent citations are picked
by selecting the add folder. After I have gone through all 103 records
I select folder has items.
9. Finally
I look at the Result List Items and printo off all of the full text
that is available by printing those with attached full text and checking
the Find Article @ SCSU to find more full text. For those records which
have no full text available I go to the
InterLibrary Loan forms and submit the requests for the articles.
Remember ILL is free and takes an averge of four days to get the article
to you either through the mail or as an attachement to an email.
