The sight of an eagle diving to catch a baby Argali (ram) and feeding can be seen here. Perched on top of a rock, a bearded vulture, an scavenger waits patiently for its turn. When the opportunity becomes available, without fear of a human being nearby it fed from the remains of the Argali. The bird was quickly displaced by a young snow leopard, too fast to be photographed. However, the cat left his prints in the snow.
Mongol horses (takhi) freely feed throughout the desert landscape. Many are wild. Mongolia is the country with the highest number of horses per capita in the world
The camel has over the years become more a tourist curiosity than for caravan travel. However, it is still used in some areas for a variety of purposes.
Gigantic crescent dunes can be easily reached throughout the Gobi. Dinosaur fossil findings are not difficult. However, the region continues to be under researched by academics.
Yoliin Am (Eagle Valley) canyon is full of a variety of sites. Besides the eagles flying about, high in elevation along deep gorges are ice rivers, which remain frozen throughout the year. In the photo below notice the scratched line above the ice level. This shows what the ice level was in February. This photo was taken in April.
