Intellectual and Creative Inquiry (INQ) Seminar
Most first-year Southern students will participate in the Inquiry
learning community, taking two courses together with their 20-student
group, including a required English course and the centerpiece of the
Inquiry program: INQ 101: Introduction to Intellectual and Creative
Inquiry.
Taught by faculty from a variety of disciplines, this dynamic seminar is designed to help you develop the intellectual and critical inquiry skills that will be crucial to successful college study. The course focuses on essentials like reading, writing, critical thinking, research and inquiry skills, and frameworks for building an academic habit of mind -- in other words, thinking like a college student.
Working with you at New Student Orientation, you adviser will determine whether Inquiry is the right learning community for you.
