DR. ROSALYN AMENTA: Director

Rosalyn Amenta is the SCSU Director of Women's Programs. She received her Ph.D. in the history of religions at Fordham University, and her Master of Arts in Religion at Yale Divinity School. Her area of specialization is comparative religious philosophy with an emphasis on the image, status and role of women in world religious cultures.
Dr. Amenta has taught numerous graduate and undergraduate courses in Women's Studies, Anthropology, Sociology, Honors College, Religious Studies and Philosophy at Southern, including the team-taught interdisciplinary institutes, Woman, Heal Thyself and Women and Professional Ethics. She served as Co-Coordinator of the Women's Studies Program 1989-2002 and Graduate Coordinator of Women's Studies 1999-2002, and currently serves as a member of the Women's Studies Steering Committee. Since 2005 when the SAGE Center was instituted officially at SCSU, Dr. Amenta has served as its administrative director.
LAUREN CHICOSKI: Assistant
Lauren has been involved with the SCSU LGBT Community for three years, and is currently the Co-President of the LGBT Prism Club. She is an Anthropology major with minors in Women's Studies and Wellness. Lauren plans to continue education in the field of Sexuality and Gender in Anthropology (Queer Anthropology).
Her recent ethnographic fieldwork concentrates on LGBT and ally faculty and staff. She is currently looking for employees to interview so if you are interested or would like to find out more then please contact her by email. The research will remain anonymous.
