Conducting Degree Evaluation for LEP
The implementation of the LEP requires that all departments conduct a degree evaluation for each of their majors. To do so, complete the following steps for each of the degrees that your department offers:
- Download a blank LEP Degree Evaluation Worksheet for Departments.
- Print out a copy of a blank Banner Program Evaluation for your program. You can do this by doing a Degree Evaluation "What-If Analysis" within Banner and using the student name, TBA, Staff (That is, the last name is Staff and the first name is TBA) and an entry term of Spring 2011.
- Go through each of the areas on your Banner Program Evaluation and if your program has any restrictions or limitations, indicate those on your Degree Evaluation Worksheet. While we understand that certain programs may need to restrict the list of courses within a particular LEP area, the LEP Committee asks that you try to keep each area as open and broad as possible (see sample).
- Be sure to complete the bottom table called "Degree Requirements" and list the courses that should remain on your required list of courses for the major as well as any courses that now need to be added to your major due to the new structure of the LEP.
- The second page of the document asks that you list any concerns or comments that relate to courses required for your major. Also, in an effort to make hidden reuirements as transparent as possible, we ask that you list any and all hidden prerequisites related to the LEP or your major.
- Send your completed worksheet to Kim Laing via email or campus mail (WT 125).
Some departments are finding that a blank 4-year curricular map is helpful in this process.
If you have any questions related to this process, please contact Polly Beals (LEP Director), Marty Hartog (UCF Chairperson), or Kim Laing in the Registrar's Office.
