I. Call to Order: The meeting was called to order by C. Serchuk at 9:35 am.
II. Announcements:
- There will be a faculty forum on UCF, 3/1/00, 12:00-2:00, Pinciaro Room.
- Susan Tiso is putting together the UCF website. Her extension is 2-5206.
- New UCF members should join one of the subcommittees.
- Volunteer tax return assistance is available on Saturday mornings, 8:30-1:00, Alumni Room of the Student Center.
- There will be a faculty forum on the EdD, 2/16/00, 12:00-2:00, Pinciaro Room.
- There will be a library book sale, 2/9/00-2/10/00, Tiffany Room.
- UCF members were encouraged to comment to their faculty colleagues that all forms related to UCF business initially come through C. Serchuk.
III. Approval of Meeting Minutes: The minutes of the previous UCF meeting (12/9/99) were approved. Paperwork today included:
- NMC minutes, 12/14/99 and 1/27/00
- UWIC minutes, 1/27/00
- Southern Writing Program replacement forms, 12/9/99
- UCF Subcommittee on Freshmen Requirements: Status of UCF actions on bulleted items, as of 12/9/99; Proposed rewording of the policy
IV. Committee Reports:
Steering: C. Serchuk reported this committee is working on the faculty forum presentation.
Notifications Management: (see minutes, 12/14/99; 1/27/00). P. Gallup highlighted these minutes. Discussion occurred about whether UCF forms can include class size and the recent UCF overruling of a school curriculum committee. In addition, this committee is discussing having forms typed and bibliographies alphabetized. Also, this committee would like for UCF to discuss the course review process and the course quality process. The minutes were accepted.
University Wide Impact: (see minutes, 1/27/00). P. Beals highlighted these minutes. This committee is seeking information from members who are familiar with teaching certification standards. The minutes were accepted.
New Programs and Innovations: D. Savage reported this committee is reviewing the UCF constitution and preparing a written report about revisions. The committee is also in process of reviewing the Education proposal.
Program Review & Assessment: There was no report from this committee.
V. Report from the Writing Board: (see replacement forms). M. Heidmann highlighted the revised placement forms and discussion occurred about their content and routing. Suggestions were made for changes.
Motion 1: A motion was made, seconded, and passed 25-1-1
To accept the amended Writing Board forms
VI. Freshman Requirements Committee: (see handouts). B. Horn highlighted information in the two handouts.
Motion 2: A motion was made, seconded, and passed unanimously
Advising and registration shall develop a process to ensure that students continue in the English sequence every semester until ENG 101 has been completed.
Discussion continued regarding the format of the proposal and the monitoring section.
Motion 3: A motion was made, seconded, and passed unanimously
Until the policy for freshmen requirements is fully implemented, the administration shall report to UCF annually (before the last fall semester UCF meeting) on the progress towards implementation.
Discussion continued about the Math proposal and its re-wording
Motion 4: A motion was made, seconded, and not passed because of a lack of majority (13-11-6)
To accept the proposed rewording of the policy as related to Math

1. A motion to adjourn the meeting was made, seconded and passed unanimously.
2. The meeting was adjourned at 10:50 am.
