V. Ad Hoc Committee Reports - Ad Hoc Committee on the Standards Document is still working on final stages of document drafts.
Some clarification needed on when standards forms will come to committee members and how the changes will be finalized.
VI. Old Business - Continued discussion of Program Review and Outcome- Based Assessment.
Discussion:
Some committee members requested clarification regarding whether additional compensation time will be provided for departmental program review. One member stated that the chair's council was told that until compensation is clarified, departments did not have to provide a name.
One committee member stated her understanding that region-wide, release time is provided for program review in lieu of additional financial compensation.
Several departments have already sent in a representative's name and have started their program review but object to the short timeline they have been given to finish.
Several members stated that assessment is very difficult for certain disciplines. It was felt that some departments should not be required to do assessment since some areas are measurable and some are not.
A need was expressed for faculty to be provided with a group of principles and tools for program review and assessment.
Dr. Kennedy and Provost Williams are scheduled to be at the 11/29/07 meeting to discuss assessment and program review.
VII. The meeting was adjourned at 10:51am
