Announcements
P. Gallup informed the committee that HIS 298 and HIS 257 were passed in the meeting on Tuesday March 9, 1999.

The committee unanimously accepted the minutes of the March 9, 1999 meeting.

P. Gallup asked the committee members to review JST 350 proposal before the next meeting.

Course proposals

The committee continued reviewing the Bachelor of Arts Communications major.

COM233 Communication in Relational Development
G. Puerschner made a motion to accept this course proposal, K. Mauro seconded the motion.
Course passed 8-0-0

COM245 Introduction to Mass Media
G. Peurschner made a motion to accept this course proposal, M. Hartog seconded the motion.
Course passed 8-0-0

COM287 Introduction to Communication Research
The committee recommended that the Communications Department consider adding prerequisites for this course. B. Farley-Lucas made a motion to return the proposal to the Communications Department, G. Puerschner seconded the motion.

COM312 Communication and Gender
The committee recommended that the title be edited to read "men's and women's...". The committee recommended that "This course explores..." be removed from the catalog description and that "and" be added. The committee also suggested that Women's Studies be informed of this proposal. B. Farley-Lucas made a motion to return the proposal to the Communications Department, G. Puerschner seconded the motion.

The committee recommended that the Communications Department add prerequisites for this course, that the objectives be clarified, and that some typographical errors be corrected. B.
