Minutes of Previous NMC meeting (10/14/99) were approved with minor changes.

BIO 467 Laboratory Course in Biotechnology

what is the impact of this course on the Chemistry Department?
Is this a lab course exclusively or is it mixed with lecture? If lecture, what percentage is lecture and what percentage is lab? This impacts on the validity to allotting 4 credits to this course.
Bibliography should be in alphabetical order
Complete citation needed for all references (i.e., Wexler, 1995)
The NMC discussed the potential ethical implications of biotechnology and how are they addressed in the course.

clarify the number of contact hours for 3 credits (1.5 classroom hours and 3 lab hours do not equate with 3 credit hours)
shorten catalogue description (drop "This course will..."; Change "The"
in second sentence to "Examine" and drop "...will be stressed." Delete last sentence and add "Service Learning component is required."
Proposed changes to catalogue description appears to change the course content. Please clarify whether course content has been modified.
