Meeting Minutes (4/26/01)

Proposals

Revised Program Proposal

  • EXS BS Teacher Certification Program.  Proposal involves changing an existing course from an elective to a required course for teacher certification students. 

Outcome: G. Puerschner moved to accept the proposal as submitted.  L. Rebeschi seconded the motion.  The motion was approved by unanimous vote.

Revised Program Proposal

  • English: Major in English.  The committee considered previous questions about the CPR form.  Minor corrections were made to the original proposal. 

Outcome:  J. Fields moved to accept the proposal.  G. Puerschner seconded the motion.  The motion was approved by unanimous vote.

Revised Course Proposal

  • NUR 460 Advanced Concepts in Nursing.  Revisions to the course involved changes in the new course description.  Several minor problems with the proposal were noted involving prerequisites and the catalog description. 

Outcome: D. Soneson made a motion to accept the proposal pending revision of noted changes.  G. Puerschner seconded the motion.  The motion was approved by unanimous vote.

Revised Course Proposal

  • NUR 462 Health Assessment for RN/BSN Students.  Revisions to the course involved changes in the new course description.  Minor revisions were suggested to improve the catalog description. 

Outcome: G. Puerschner made a motion to accept the proposal pending revision of noted changes.  B. Farley-Lucas seconded the motion.  The motion was approved by unanimous vote.

Revised Course Proposal

  • NUR 463 Concepts of Community Health Nursing.  Need to review revisions to the original course proposal.  Minor changes were recommended for the catalog description.

Outcome:  D. Soneson made a motion to accept the proposal pending revision of catalog description.  G. Puerschner seconded the motion.  The motion was approved by unanimous vote.

  • ANT 323/WS 323 Women in Prehistory.   Was not signed off by SCC.  Refer to SCC and UCF Chair.  

Other:

Issue of Minority Opinion on UCF Forms.  A discussion was held concerning changing the UCF forms to include a line to list reasons for dissenting Departmental votes concerning new course proposals or revised program proposals. 

Outcome: Motion: Not to amend current forms to allow minority opinions to be expressed on the forms.  J. Fields made a motion to accept.  D. Soneson seconded the motion.  The motion was accepted by a vote of 8 accept and 1 not accept.

NMC Task and Goal Clarification Document.  Discussions were held concerning the NMC Task and Goal Clarification Document.  Several suggestions were made by committee members to revise the document prepared by B. Farley-Lucas. 

Outcome: The document will again be reviewed by the NMC on May 10.
