Discussions:

Questions posed by UCF to sub-committees regarding online courses that need investigation are:

  • Is online learning a part of SCSU's academic mission?
  • Are online courses new courses, revised courses, or existing courses?
  • What might the potential drawbacks of putting a course online be in terms of quality, integrity, or academic standards?
  • Would online courses contribute or detract from the recourses available for on-campus courses?

NMC recommendations to UCF:

  • Affirming classification: new, existing, or revised
  • Need University-wide support and training
  • New or revised: need a committee for training and standards
  • Need an outside body for review that uses student outcomes as focus

Vote: Support and resources must be provided - passed unanimously

NMC is the committee to look at new or revised courses, not existing.

NMC feels method of delivery is an element to be considered.  These actions are pending the outcome of the UCF meeting to see what direction the full committee will take.
