Proposals:

  • Nursing 420 (Guided Imagery in Nursing Practice)- course revision proposal involves modification of course description. No other proposed changes in the course.

Outcome: Description edited for conciseness. Motion made by K. Mauro to accept Nur 420 proposal as revised. Seconded by B. Farley-Lucas. Unanimously approved

  • Nursing 310 (Therapeutic Nutrition) - course revision proposal involves addition of 2 new course objectives designed to bring content to application/practice level.

Outcome: Motion made by B. Farley-Lucas to accept Nur 310 proposal as revised. Seconded by V. Breslin. Unanimously approved.

  • Nursing 407 (Leadership and Management in Nursing) - course revision proposal involves modification of course description and removal of Nursing 402 as a prerequisite since this is no longer a course in the curriculum.

Outcome: Description edited for conciseness. Motion made by G. Puerschner to accept Nur 407 as revised. Seconded by B. Farley-Lucas. Unanimously approved.

  • Nursing 404 (Gerontolical Nursing) - course revision proposal involves revision of course objectives which incorporate terms reflecting current trends in practice. No other proposed changes in the course.

Outcome: Motion made by G. Puerschner to accept Nur 404 as revised. Seconded by V. Breslin. Unanimously approved.

  • CMD 200L (Intro to Developmental Communication Disorders) - proposal referred to UWIC because is an existing course for which an "L" proposal is being made.
  • CMD 201 (Intro to Communication Disorders in Medical Settings) - New course proposal. Signature sheet needs "CMD" added to the course code and number line.

Outcome: Motion made by B. Farley-Lucas to accept CMD 201 pending minor corrections. Seconded by L. Rebeschi. 8 approval 1 abstention

  • BA in Communication/Specialization in Communication Disorders - B. Farley-Lucas explained that technically the Communications Dept does not offer a specialization in Communication Disorders

Outcome: No action taken. B. Farley-Lucas will request meeting with P. Cascella to further discuss proposal.

  • Psy 465 (Seminar in Psychological Counseling & Therapy) - course revision of change in prerequisites reviewed.

Outcome: Motion made by G. Puerschner to accept Psy 465 as revised. Seconded by N. Disbrow. Unanimously passed.

  • BA Psychology/General Specialization - revised program proposal reviewed. Need clearer rationale for eliminating Psy 302: Motivation. Also, need course revision form for Psy 483 as this change is part of proposal.

Outcome: No action taken. Will be returned to Dept for clarification.

  • BA Psychology/Mental Health Specialization - revised program proposal reviewed. Course revision for Psy 483 needed as this change is part of proposal. Also, need rationale for deletion of Psy 400 and Psy 302. Need to also clarify status of renumbering of Psy 365 to Psy 465.

Outcome: No action taken. Will be returned to Dept for clarification.

  • BS Psychology/Research Specialization - Course revision for Psy 483 change in numbering to Psy 383 needed.

Outcome: Motion made by N. Disbrow to accept program revision pending approval of course number change (Psy 483). Unanimously passed.

  • Marketing 331 (Principles of Advertising) /Marketing 340 (Media Planning and Strategy) - B. Farley Lucas states that Communication Dept currently offer courses with seemingly similar content. MKT 331 - correct "effective Fall 2000."

Outcome: No action taken. B. Farley Lucas will contact Marketing to discuss how classes are similar or different to those being offered by Communication Dept.

  • PCH 200 (Introduction to Nutrition) - Course revision proposal discussed.

Outcome: Motion made by B. Achhpal to accept PCH 200 as revised. Seconded by B. Farley-Lucas. Approved unanimously

  • PCH 300 (Food Science) - Course revision proposal discussed.

Outcome: Motion made by G. Puerschner to accept PCH 300 as revised. Seconded by L. Rebeschi. Approved unanimously.

  • PCH 306 (Diet and Nutritional Therapy) - Course revision proposal discussed.

Outcome: Motion made by G. Puerschner to accept PCH 306 as revised. Seconded by L. Rebeschi. Approved unanimously.

  • PCH 352/ANT 352 - PCH 352 (Health, Disease, Culture) is already an existing course in the Dept of Public Health. Signature needed from PCH. Also, Dept of Nursing may also need to provide a letter of acknowledgement as this course might also be cross numbered with Nursing.

Outcome: No action taken. Will clarify whether this course is intended to replace the existing PCH 352 course. Also, Chair of Dept of Nursing to be contacted.

Other Business:

  • Ad hoc subcommittees: No reports.
  • Shell courses: New Programs and Innovations and NMC are discussing streamlining procedures, whereby New Programs completely would handle 298, 398 and 498 courses
  • Outcome Based Assessment: R. Gerber will be addressing this at an upcoming UCF meeting.
