Proposals:

English Major and Eng 301 - Literary Analysis and Critical Theory

  • The addition of this new course constitutes a change of program for the English major; previous statement on this was clarified
    Motion made by P. Gallup to approve both the course and program changes
    K. Mauro seconded the motion
    Motion unanimously approved

Lit 348 - Modern Lit. & Other Arts

  • In contacting Foreign Languages re: the course, J. Bloch will also ask them to make certain that this course still technically exists
    The committee voted 6-3-1 that we receive a signed document from the Theater Department stating that it had been notified about this course revision
    Motion made by B. Farley-Lucas to approve pending the following (in addition to the above):

Typed cover page
Type the full description onto the proposal form as it should read
Minor changes in course description

D. Soneson seconded the motion

Vote: 10 approved - 1 opposed (approved)

Lit 382 - Contemporary Latin American Literature

  • In contacting Foreign Languages re: the course, J. Bloch will also ask them to make certain that this course still technically exists
    Motion made by P. Gallup to approve pending the following:

Typed cover page
Minor changes in course description
Signed documentation from Comparative Literature stating it has been notified of this course revision.
Include a rationale for changes

His 305 - Hist. of Indochina Wars 1965-1993

J. Bloch will remind History Department to notify the Writing Board re: offering as L Course
Motion made by L. Rebeschi to approve pending the following:
Minor correction on proposal form
Condensed course description
Slight clarification of course objectives
B. Faley-Lucas seconded the motion
Motion unanimously approved

Ad Hoc Committees:

P. Gallup reminded committee members to review forms and e-mail her with any feedback re: forms or the checklist
J. Bloch suggested the we set the end of the semester as a deadline for all three ad hoc committees to submit documents to Notifications Management, whereby the full UCF body can receive and discuss these documents during Spring 2001. All three Ad Hoc Committees agreed that this was a reasonable goal.

Other:

J. Bloch distributed copies of documents on outcomes-based assessment. Following a brief discussion, it was agreed that the UCF main body be asked to discuss this issue in the future, after UCF representatives have had the opportunity to get input from their respective departments. We also are having an administrator visit Notifications Management to discuss this matter.
