Present: Vince Breslin, Joe Fields, Beena Achhpal, Kathy Mauro, Wes O'Brian, Karen Burke, Nancy Disbrow, Rich Glinku.

MDS 300: Persuasion and Argument in Media: Kathy made a motion to approve pending signatures from Media Studies and Beena seconded it. 6 in favor. 2 Abstain.

MDS 360: Romance to Ruin: Media Relationships: Karen made a motion to accept pending changes to the cover sheet and typing Women's Studies on the cover sheet, and Joe seconded it. Passed unanimously.

MDS 370: Music and Sound in Media: Kathy made a motion to accept, Karen seconded it. Passed unanimously.

SOC 200: Adventures in Sociology: A lengthy discussion took place about changes to the # of credits (Old=3) and (New= 4). The proposal was tabled until further clarifications regarding:

  • Whether or not it is the committee's charge to determine suitability of assigned # of credits (4 credits i.e. 1 additional credit) for one additional contact hour.
  • Clearer justification was needed regarding why 1 credit hour is equal to 1 additional contact hour.

Kathy made a motion, Wes seconded it. All in favor.

SOC 363: Social Inequality in the U.S. Nancy made a motion to accept. Karen seconded it. Passed unanimously.

SOC 380 (Foundations of Sociological Theory) & SOC 480 ( Applied Contemporary Theory): Since it is a proposed program change, approval pending, submission of new and old CPERs. Karen made a motion to accept, Nancy seconded it. All in favor.
