1.    Proposals

  • MDS 499 (Media Studies Independent Study). New course. V. Breslin made motion to accept; B. Achhpal seconded. Motion passed unanimously.
  • Sociology, all B. A./B. S. programs. Implementation of new minimum grade requirements. V. Breslin made motion to accept; B. Achhpal seconded. Motion passed unanimously.
  • CHE 434 (Inorganic Chemistry). Minor revisions. V. Breslin made motion to accept; B. Achhpal seconded. Motion passed unanimously.
  • ART 233 (Jewelry/Metals I). Minor revisions. K. Burke made motion to accept pending minor correction to the Proposal form and essentially cutting and pasting aspects of the rationale in the Studio Art program revision. J. Fields seconded. Motion passed unanimously.
  • ART 332 (Metalsmithing). Minor revisions. K. Burke made motion to accept pending minor correction to the Proposal form and essentially cutting and pasting aspects of the rationale in the Studio Art program revision. J. Fields seconded. Motion passed unanimously.
  • ART 333 (Jewelry/Metals II). Minor revisions. K. Burke made motion to accept pending minor correction to the Proposal form and essentially cutting and pasting aspects of the rationale in the Studio Art program revision. J. Fields seconded. Motion passed unanimously.
  • ART 334 (Casting in Jewelry/Metals). Minor revisions. K. Burke made motion to accept pending minor correction to the Proposal form and essentially cutting and pasting aspects of the rationale in the Studio Art program revision. J. Fields seconded. Motion passed unanimously.
  • ART 433 (Jewelry/Metals III). New course. Proposal returned to Contact Person for more development. Must include rationale and outline, and better developed objectives, method of evaluation, and bibliography.
  • ART 434 (Jewelry/Metals IV). New course. Proposal returned to Contact Person for more development. Must include rationale and outline, and better developed objectives, method of evaluation, and bibliography.
  • Art, Studio Art Program. Program revisions. Because proposal included implementation of ART 433 and 434, Program revision returned to Contact Person.
  • SWK 390 (Interviewing Skills in Social Work Practice). Minor revisions. R. Glinka made motion to ask Contact Person to resubmit with proper Course Revision Form, and specifics of departmental vote; NMC will then vote to approve via e-mail before final UCF meeting of the year on 5/15/03. Seconded by K. Burke. Motion passed unanimously.
  • SOC 318 (Comparative Race Relations). New course. V. Breslin made motion to ask Contact Person to resubmit with the flowing changes: 1) a title that encompasses the global dimension of the course; 2) a rationale that substitutes words to the effect of "racial and ethnic relations" for "societies;" 3) a more detailed course outline, including breakdown of time spent on each area; 4) special emphasis on developing references to culture in outline; 5) a bibliography that more strongly is aligned with the course outline and rationale. NMC will then vote via e-mail before the final UCF meeting of the year on 5/15/03. Seconded by K. Burke. Motion passed unanimously.
