I. Proposals
Proposals for review today included ECO 440, PSC 333, PSC 338 and MDS 482.
The first proposal reviewed was ECO 440 "European Economic Integration." This is an interesting new course proposal covering topics related to the economic development of the European Union. The committee noted a number of typographic errors and a motion was made by J. Manzella to return the proposal to its author to correct these problems before seeking approval. The motion was seconded my N. Disbrow and the motion carried 9-0-0.
The next proposal for review was PSC 333 "Latin American Security." There were several small discrepancies noted. The course number on the proposal form is incorrect. In the catalog description there is an extraneous "the." Finally, in the rationale for the course a prerequisite of "Sophomore status" is mentioned but is not listed on the proposal form.
K. Burke made a motion to approve the course subject to correction of these errors.
G. Kowalczyk seconded and the motion passed 9-0-0.
PSC 338 "Contemporary World Politics" is a new course proposal. It has the same ambiguity regarding the "Sophomore status" as PSC 333. K. Mauro moved to approve the course subject to correcting this ambiguity. N. Disbrow seconded and the motion carried 9-0-0.
MDS 482 "Seminar in Media Studies" is a course revision proposal involving changes to the catalog description and a strengthening of the prerequisites. N. Disbrow moved for approval,
J. Manzella seconded and the motion carried 9-0-0.
II. Motions
Persuant to the above, the NMC brings the following motions to the UCF:
- "The new course proposals PSC 33 and PSC 338 be approved."
- "The course revision proposal for MDS 482 be approved."
