Notifications Management Committee (NMC)

Minutes of 11/20/03 (amended)

I. Proposals

There was a single proposal for review today: a new course, PSC 348 Western Political Thought. Since most of the primary sources cited in the proposal are also well-known philosophers, it was suggested that a letter of support from Philosophy would be appropriate. After receipt of said letter the committee will vote on this proposal.

II. Other business

The committee discussed the issue of by-laws. J. Manzella suggested that most of the issues related to by-laws (chair selection, requirements for minutes, establishing a quorum, adoption of Robert's rules of order, etc.) are common to other UCF subcommittees, and so it would be more appropriate for an ad hoc committee of the UCF to draft by-laws for all of the committees which could then either be adopted by the subcommittees or modified to better suit their purposes.
