Notifications Management Committee Minutes
May 19, 2005

 
Present:    Rich Glinka, Roy Hunter, Richard Kuskin, Joe Fields, Kathy Mauro

We had the following guests at the meeting to explain the course proposals:

Bill Elwood from Theater and Wes O'Brien from Media Studies.

The committee met and discussed the following proposals.

  • THR 400-Theater Methods K-12

Bill Elwood explained what was being done in the course as an independent study. He also met with members of the Education department to correct the learning objects, the course is an elective in Theater major, and a larger list for the Bibliography was provided.

Corrections were made that had been recommended by the committee.

Motion- Richard, second - Roy to accept
Motion passed 5-0

  • MKT 497-Internship

This proposal was submitted to change the internship to variable credits of 1-12.

Motion passed 5-0

  • MKT 499-Independent Study

This proposal was submitted to change the independent study to variable credits of 1- 4.

  • MDS 340- Media Literacy Education for Students and Teachers

This new course proposal was submitted as being an elective in Media studies and a requirement in the BS in English. Since there was no paperwork submitted from the English department to show where the course was to fit in the curriculum, the committee decided to approve the new course as an elective in the Media Studies major only. Kathy Mauro sent an e-mail to the department chair and indicated that the English department needed to submit the appropriate paperwork to the committee in September indicating the changes that were being major to the BS in English program and where this course was to fit in.

  • REC 459-Administration of Outdoor Recreation Program

This was a new course proposal. Roy explained the course content.

We also had a representative from the Marketing department( Richard Kuskin) and Recreation department (Roy Hunter) to explain the other courses that were presented.

New course  REC 459 be approved
