November 18, 2004
Present: Karen Burke, Gregory Kowalczyk, Jane Feng, Rich Glinka, Lynn Kohrn, Roy Hunter, Troy Rondinone, Michele Vancour, Kathy Mauro
Recorder: K. Mauro
The committee met and discussed the following proposals.
1.) HIS 311 - Workers in America I
A little discussion took place about the changes in the title and course description. Karen made a motion to accept and Greg seconded it. It passed unanimously.
2.) HIS/WMS 364 - Travel to the Hawaiian Nation
A discussion took place about the course being a 300 level course and not having any pre-requisites. Karen made a motion and Michele seconded it that the course be approved with the changes. It passed unanimously.
3.) HIS 365 - Hawaiian History
The committee discussed that the course should have a prerequisite since it is at the 300 level. Greg made the motion and Lynn seconded to accept with change. It passed unanimously.
4.) HIS 370 - Introduction to Public History
There was a discussion that the title was an "Introduction.." and this was a 300 level course and also had no prerequisites. We discussed that maybe "Introduction" should be taken off and have a prerequisite or bump the course down to a 200 level and have no prerequisite. Karen made a motion and Greg seconded it that we approve the course with the correction. It passed unanimously.
5.) NUR 463 - Concepts of Community Health Nursing
Karen made a motion and Troy seconded it that we approve the changes to the credit of the course (5 to 4). It passed unanimously.
6.) NUR 467 -Care Across the Continuum for Special Populations
A discussion took place about this new course. There were references in the syllabus to "I" or "faculty member". The committee indicated there should be consistency. There was discussion that the catalogue description should support # 2 under the rationale. This was unclear. The committee decided to table the proposal until we had the changes made that we suggested or more clarification in the description.
I received the changes for HIS 364/WMS364,HIS 365 and HIS 370 with perquisites added on to courses
Motions: 1) That the new courses HIS 364/WMS364, HIS 365, HIS 370 be approved.
2) That the changes in HIS 311 and NUR 463 be approved.
The meeting was adjourned at 10:40
