Notification Management Committee Minutes
October 11, 2007
In attendance: Adam Abugri, June Cheng, Nancy Disbrow, Deborah Flynn (co-chair & recorder), Rich Glinka, Sean Grace, Roy Hunter, Kim Laing, Tricia Lin (co-chair), Kathy Mauro
Meeting called to order at 9:40 am
The meeting began with a discussion of course and/or program changes that appear in the catalog without having been reviewed by NMC/UCF. The Committee agreed that a friendly reminder be sent to Provost Williams to ensure that no catalog changes (re courses or programs) are made without the appropriate NMC/UCF paperwork.
Review of Proposals
- Theatre: Revised course Proposals
- THR 151 Stagecraft I
- THR 238 Lighting I
- THR 252 Technical Drafting for the Theatre
- THR 296 Technical Theatre Production I
- THR 310 Playwriting
- THR 365 Stage Management
- THR 396 Technical theatre production II
These course proposals were tabled at the last NMC meeting (September 27, 2007) awaiting rationales. As of this date, the NMC still awaits a response to its request. Therefore, these 7 Revised Course Proposals remain on hold.
- Music: Revised Course Proposal
- MUS 215 Materials of Music
This Revised Course Proposal for title and course description changes was tabled at the last NMC meeting pending clarification of elective status.
The proposal:
- changes the title to Guitar Harmony
- changes the course description to "reflect direct reference to the guitar fingerboard"
- includes a rational that indicates both a need to revitalize the course and to exploit the talents and interests of those self-taught guitarists most attracted to this course.
The NMC has received written email clarification that the course will be a free elective. A motion to pass pending receipt of a corrected Proposal Form was approved.

This proposal was tabled at the last NMC meeting pending clarification of program credit requirements/changes and where this elective "fits." A Revised Program Proposal will be requested.
