Committee meeting minutes from 03/28/03

Members present: Adam Abrugi, William Elwood, Claire Novosad, Troy Paddock (chair) Michele Thompson.

NPIC continued its discussion on creating some kind of generic framework for interdisciplinary minors. We propose the following as general guidelines for interdisciplinary courses:

An interdisciplinary minor (18 credits) must involve at least two disciplines. There must be no hidden pre-requisites for any of the courses. Students will be required to take at least one (1) 300 or 400 level classes. All students interested in participating in an interdisciplinary minor must declare so with the minor coordinator or, for Liberal Studies majors, declare through the coordinator for the Liberal Studies program.

The proposal was agreed upon unanimously.

We also began a discussion about tracking minors. It was agreed that once Banner is in place that some sort of system should be developed. We began discussing the wording for a resolution to be submitted to UCF for consideration. Discussion will continue at the next meeting.
