Minutes of NPIC subcommittee of the UCF

Members Present: Lisa Bier, Charlie Dellinger-Pate, Wes O'Brien, Chuck Wieder

I. Special Topic Courses

Wes and committee discussed a problem with a special topics course, URB 398 that is cross-listed with SOC 361. The committee discussed the fact that a special topics course cannot be cross-listed with a course that already exists. The committee recommended and Wes agreed that he should contact Dr. Small and talk with him about the nature of special topics courses and UCF procedures for cross-listing courses.

II. Wording for Special Topic Courses

The committee continued reviewing drafts and revising wording for the UCF website and the course registration book pertaining to special topics courses. Wes agreed to write up the corrections and send it to members of NPIC, bring the working draft to the next steering committee meeting and, in the meantime, work on a resolution for the UCF. The items include:

A paragraph on the UCF web page describing Special Topic courses

A section on the UCF web page to be headed "Procedure for Offering Special Topics Course Sections".

A paragraph in the new Special Topics section of the course registration book

A sentence added to the end of item 5 of the Special Topics Instructions on the UCF web page.
