MINUTES - MEETING OF DECEMBER 8, 2005
NPIC - New Programs and Innovations Committee

Debbie Weiss, NPIC Chair, called a meeting via email of the committee on November 6th.

Members present: Debbie Weiss (Chair), Adam Abugri, (Co-Chair), Nancy Bobrek (Recording), Charlie Dellinger-Pate, Tom Fleming, Joe Goralski, Betty Horn, Jessica Kenty-Drane, Doris Marino.

The agenda consisted of three items:

I.  Notification of New Special Topics courses for logging

II. Title Change on two M.I.S. Courses previously logged

II. Request from the Foreign Languages Department to change schedule for offering SPA 498.

I.    Notification of New Special Topics Courses - Four new Special Topics Courses were presented: 

HIS 398-01 Modern Eastern Europe
HIS 398-02 Tales of a Mediterranean City
HIS 398-03 East Asian Martial Arts
MKT 398  Marketing in Literature and Film

II. Title Change on Two M.I.S. Courses

A title change was noted on two M.I.S courses that were previously logged, but subsequently returned to the department for greater title specificity.

M.I.S  398           Special Topics in M.I.S. changed to I.T. Security Management
M.I.S. 498           Special Topics in M.I.S. changed to Project Management.                   

III. Request to Reschedule Offering of SPA 498

SPA 498 was previously scheduled for Spring '06, but has been cancelled due to low enrollment. Dr. Hetric would like to run the course in the Fall of '06.

Nancy Bobrek made a motion that the four courses presented be logged. These courses are:

HIS 398, Section 01 - Modern Eastern Europe
HIS 398, Section 02  --  Tales of a Mediterranean City
HIS 398, Section 03 - East Asian Martial Arts
MKT 398 - Marketing in Literature and Film

and that the committee formally note the submission of  course title changes as follows:

Change of title of M.I.S. 398  - Special Topics in M.I.S to M.I.S 398 - I.T. Security Management  Change of title M.I.S. 498 - Special Topics in M.I.S to M.I.S 498 - Project Management,

and that the request from Dr. Hetric, to offer SPA 498 in the  Fall of '06 instead of SP '06,  be approved.

The motion was seconded by Betty Horn. The vote was unanimous.

IV. Submission of Two Additional Special Topics Courses for Logging

Subsequently, two additional Special Topics courses were submitted for logging:

THR 298- Beginning Tap and Jazz
THR 498 - Masks and Make-up for Stage

Doris Marino made a second motion that the two additional courses presented be logged:

THR 298 - Beginning Tap and Jazz
THR 498 -  Masks and Make-up for Stage

The motion was seconded by Adam Abugri and the vote was unanimous.
