MINUTES - MEETING OF February 22, 2005
 
NPIC - New Programs and Innovations Committee

Debbie Weiss, NPIC Chair, called a "virtual meeting" via email of the committee on January 22, 2006.

Members of the committee are:  Debbie Weiss (Chair), Adam Abugri, (Co-Chair), Nancy Bobrek (Recording), Charlie Dellinger-Pate, Tom Fleming, Joe Goralski, Betty Horn, Jessica Kenty-Drane, Doris Marino.

The agenda consisted of the notification of Special Topics courses for logging.

I. Notification of New Special Topics Courses - Three new Special Topics Courses were presented:

Descriptions of courses listed above:

ENV 398 - Course examines local, regional and global environmental phenomena, events & issues through inquiry, field studies & group collaborative research, with applications for classroom teaching.  Topics include environmental field studies, site descriptions and monitoring, data collection.
JRN 398 - This course will study controversial issues facing the news media and the public interest.  It will be taught in a seminar format with a series of guests. 
*PHI 398/FRE 398 - This course was previously logged by NPIC as PHI 398.  The request is to cross-list it with FRE 398.  
Doris Marino made a motion that the three courses presented be logged. The motion was seconded by Jessica Kenty-Drane. The vote was unanimous.
