NPIC - New Programs and Innovations Committee
A meeting of NPIC was held on March 9th. Committee members who participated in the meeting are as follows:
Debbie Weiss (Chair), Adam Abugri, (Co-Chair), Nancy Bobrek (Recording), Charlie Dellinger-Pate, Tom Fleming, Joe Goralski, Betty Horn, Jessica Kenty-Drane, Doris Marino.
The agenda consisted of the notification of Special Topics courses for logging.
I. Notification of New Special Topics Courses - Six new Special Topics Courses were presented:

Descriptions of courses listed above:
MAR 298 - Course covers environmental issues in a range of coastal environments such as estuaries, beaches, wetlands, dunes, deltas, rocky coasts focusing on their origins, their functioning as natural systems, and the environmental problems and policy issues that stem from human interaction with these environments.
ANT/COM 298 - Visual Culture taps into the subfield of Visual Anthropology by attempting to develop a critical awareness of ethnographic and documentary films and ethnographic photography through readings, screenings and discussions.
URB 398 - 01, 02, 03 - cross-listing, SOC 310- 01- Racial and Ethnic Relations analysis of race and ethnicity with an emphasis on diversity and culture, intergroup conflict and competition.
URB 398 - 01 - cross-listing, PSC 314 - Urban Politics - The governmental structure and the nature of policy making in urban settings. Emphasis is how urban political issues are dealt with in a federal system and a market society.
URB 398 - 01 & 02L - cross-listing, GEO 362 - Urban Geography - Study of the distribution, functions and internal structure of cities. The focus is on structure and pattern.
URB 398 01L, 02 - cross-listing, SOC 363 - Social Inequality in the U.S. - Explores social stratification in the U.S., including social class as well as aspects of race, ethnicity, and gender, along with its causes and consequences.
Nancy Bobrek moved that the six Special Topics courses presented be logged. The motion was seconded by Joe Goralski. The vote was unanimous.
