MINUTES - Meeting of November 2, 2006
A meeting of NPIC was held on November 2, 2006. The meeting was called to order at 9:40 AM.
The following committee members were present: Deborah Weiss (Chair), Adam Abugri, Greg Cochenet, Tom Fleming, Joe Goralski, John Scheuermann

I. Notification of New Special Topics Courses - Four Special Topics Courses were presented and logged. One course required further information.

DESCRIPTIONS OF LOGGED COURSES:
PCS 498 - Courts and Legal Reasoning
Examination of techniques and methods of legal reasoning and courtroom activities.
THR 398 - Tap and Jazz for Theatre
A continuation in the study of Tap and Jazz Dance. Students will learn advanced steps and routines better preparing them for further studies and/or future employment as performers and/or teachers.
THR 498 - Intensive Master Class
Students will attend master classes in performance activities at Long Wharf Theatre. They will gain the perspective of professional experience.
WMS 498 - Women and Education
A critical examination of women's roles in education and impact of education on women's lives, past and present.
II. By-Laws - By-laws were completed. Changes proposed by the committee will be sent out to members to be voted on electronically this week.
Update: November 6, 2006 - By-laws were approved unanimously.
III. Special Topics Section Notification Request Form Update - Joe Goralski has prepared the electronic version of the approved ST form for posting on the UCF website. Number of characters that can be entered on the electronic form for the title will be restricted to 29; there will be a drop-down box for the semester that the course will be taught, and a drop-down box for course number.
IV. Update of course tracking - A discussion was started but not completed due to time constraints, regarding the best way to track special topics courses. Joe Goralski will explore this issue prior to the next meeting and propose several suggestions for discussion.
