MINUTES - Meeting of October 19, 2006
A meeting of NPIC was held on October 19, 2006. The meeting was called to order at 9:35 AM.
The following committee members were present: Deborah Weiss (Chair), Nancy Bobrek, Greg Cochenet, Tom Fleming, Joe Goralski, John Scheuermann

DESCRIPTIONS OF LOGGED COURSES:
JRN 298 - Introd. To Column Writing
An introductory course in opinion and persuasive/argumentative writing for the print and on-line mass media. Students will examine the roots of opinion writing and gain practical experience writing a weekly column.
MGT 398 Women/Autonomy/Financial Pwr
Exploration of the historic and current economic position and role of women, examining both accomplishments and constraints. Personal financial literacy and competency; emphasis on the connection between women's financial autonomy, self-sufficiency, and social change.
PSC 398 - Law and Justice
Analysis of the political aspects of law and their relationship to justice. Opportunities and obstacles to promoting justice and equality for various groups in America.
DESCRIPTIONS OF COURSES NEEDING FURTHER INFORMATION:
MKT 398 - Film & Literature in Business
A seminar focusing on how business in general, marketing and other aspects of business are depicted in film and literature.
THR 398 - Tap and Jazz for Theater
A continuation in the study of Tap and Jazz Dance. The students will learn advanced steps and routine better preparing them for further studies and/or future employment as performers and/or teachers.
THR ?? - Theater Intensive Class
Students will attend master classes in performance activities at Long Wharf Theater. (Description is incomplete after this point)
II. By-Laws - A discussion of the by-laws ensued and revisions previously made by the Chair were reviewed. Based on discussion by the group, Debbie Weiss will make changes to the document and circulate the revised version to the committee members for further review.

III. Special Topics Section Notification Request Form - Tom Fleming presented a draft version of the NPIC course request form which was sent to committee members via email prior to the meeting. Several changes to the form were suggested, which have now been incorporated. Brief discussion ensued followed by a motion by Joe Goralski to approve the form, as amended. The motion was seconded by John Scheuermann. The vote was unanimous.
A motion to adjourn was made by John Scheuermann. The motion was seconded by Joe Goralski, and the meeting was adjourned at 10:50 AM
