Description of logged courses
ANT 398 - Taphonomy and Site Formation
Evidence from archaeological sites is used to infer the diet and behavior of our early ancestors. However, inferences must be based on a thorough knowledge of the physical and biological forces that can create or disturb a site. This course will examine the many facets of site formation with an emphasis on the role of taphonomy in determining whether our ancestors or carnivores were the primary agent(s) in site formation.
HON 298:02 - Inauguration Seminar: Media, Politics, and Policy
This seminar, offered in conjunction with the Washington Center "Campaign 2008" seminar, will "delve into the issues and implications of the next administration and study the role the media will play in the process." Students in the course will analyze the relationship between media and politics in the 2008 campaign, examine policy and political changes likely to occur as a result of the election, and consider domestic and foreign issues facing the new administration in the next four years. Evaluation will be based on attendance, participation in large and small group sessions, completion of assigned readings, and quality of written assignments.
B. The Committee approved both courses but noted that the subject title for
HON 298:02 was longer than 29 characters that be reduced. ANT 398 contact hours must be corrected.
II. Old Business
A. Greg Cochenet presented the new motion with the added correction to reads:
"NPIC moves to create university course numbers, 298, 398, and 498,
as shells entitled "Special Topics," "Special Topics," and "Advanced
Special Topics," respectively, and with no fixed description in all
Departments and programs, excepting those that are currently using
those course numbers for other purposes."
Directions for the Form
B. The directions will not be presented in the form of a motion to UCF.
The Committee began to review the directions for the new special topics
forms. We reviewed some changes in the directions. Greg Cochenet will
review the forms and make the changes as discussed in the meeting and send
a copy to the members to approve before submitting to UCF for a motion.
Meeting adjourned at 10:50 A.M.
Respectfully submitted by:
Doris M. Marino
