The minutes of the meeting on 10/12 were approved with revisions.
Committee discussed the committee's role in the University assessment process
Committee decided to table the discussion of questions #3 and #4 from the original meeting regarding improving the assessment process to a future meeting.
Chairperson, Cynthia Coron appreciated Ben Kottler and Emad Aboelela who attended the New England Educational Assessment Conference
E. Aboelela provided all committee members with the material, "Internet Resources for Assessment" from NEEAN conference.
Report from B. Kottler about the NEEAN conference:
The assessment process has to be a "cycle". First the assessment should be done on the Dept. level and then administrative office needs to give them feedback with some actions that will ensure the Dept. the assessment is worthwhile and encourage them to continue the assessment. The assessment is a continuous process.
B. Kottler will give a more detailed report later.
It was suggested that the Roles of PRAC should be:
- deliver the assessment models and give suggestions
- focus on assessment in general
- bridge the gap between administration and departments
Announcement made by Chairperson: B. Gelbach will represent the PRAC committee to Ad Hoc committee for assessing the SCORE program.
Chairperson gave each committee member separate tasks of searching several Web sites regarding the assessment process at other universities and write a summary of ideas in assessment. This is due the first week of December.
