Program Review and Assessment Committee (PRAC)

Minutes of: March 14, 2002

Present: C. Coron (chair), B. Gelbach, R. Page, H. Podnar, W. Shyam.
 
The committee received a reply from Dick Gerber's office with comments and suggestions for "Program Self-Assessment Survey". The comments were addressed, and the suggestion taken into consideration in the final version of the survey. The members believe that the survey in its present form is ready for distribution. The survey can be sent as soon as the final proofreading is completed. The survey results will be compiled and distributed among UCF members, the Office of Assessment, and posted online. The final interpretation of the results is expected to give some insight in the current assessment process.

The discussion about "Academic Strategic Plan" followed. The members concluded that the issue of defining the criteria for departmental reviews is very crucial. The criteria definition should receive a significant faculty input. Based on the established criteria, there was a concern about the ways of operationalizing them. Several criteria were scrutinized (e.g. peer competitiveness and student outcomes).
