Minutes of: April 21st 2005

At the beginning of the meeting PRAC members addressed a number of issues related to the workshop series including food services and possibilities of off-campus catering.

Given that the four-campus CSU assessment conference date is approaching, members discussed their registration and conference attendance plans. Even though SCSU has the largest number of the registrants, PRAC would devote extra effort to promote additional registrations.

The next topic of discussion was the course guidelines for new course proposals. A member noted that faculty might be confused regarding the assessment terminology. An example included determining the difference between the course goals, outcomes and objectives. A suggestion was given that PRAC proceeds with an illustrative example and a detailed explanation about the assessment language. A member mentioned the Blooms taxonomy as an additional assessment language source.

Finally members obtained a copy of the latest senate resolution about assessment. Members agreed that the request for assessment 'Public Forums' to facilitate dialogue is in sync with PRAC's efforts in the same direction. PRAC would certainly seek to take a part in such an effort.
