PROGRAM REVIEW AND ASSESSMENT COMMITTEE
Minutes of: February 9th 2006
Present: C. Novosad, R. Mugno (co-chair), H. Podnar, E. Schmitt, W. Shyam.
Started: 10:00am
PRAC members continued their discussion about appropriate assessment language to be recommended for the UCF standards document. In the previous week members exchanged a number of electronic documents with assessment definitions. Some of the more important definitions include goals, objectives and outcomes. Course goals should provide rather general overview of the proposed achievements. Course objectives would contain more detailed overview from the instructor's perspective. Finally, course outcomes should describe what students will gain at the end of the course. Defining measurable learning outcomes could affect objectives declaration. PRAC feels that course proposal should be general enough, so it can be easily adapted by another faculty. PRAC will continue the discussion, and will search for representative examples (literature, Internet).
