PROGRAM REVIEW AND ASSESSMENT COMMITTEE                     
 
Minutes of: October 20th 2005     
 

Present: C. Coron (co-chair),  R. Mugno (co-chair), H. Podnar, E. Schmitt.

Started: 10:00am

The meeting started with a discussion about a database management tool suitable for collecting assessment related data. A member reported about a recent presentation organized by the School of Education about such a tool (Tk20.com).  Other members reported about departmental attempts to introduce electronic systems for collection of the assessment data. Some examples of organizing students' portfolios and scanning examples of student work were mentioned. In order to avoid duplication of the efforts, a certain level of coordination is necessary. PRAC will gather more information about such systems that can be used on SCSU campus (banner friendly).

PRAC is finalizing its organizational efforts for its first assessment workshop to be given on November 9th. Several logistic details were discussed including: room assignments and refreshments. PRAC will contact a number of SCSU faculty to identify potential speakers for future workshops.

PRAC shortly discussed attendance plans for the upcoming NEEAN Fall Forum (New London).
