Program Review and Assessment Committee

Minutes for January 31, 2008

Present:  Mark Cameron, Karen Cummings, Emmanuel Emenyonu, Ray Mugno ( Chair / recorder), Thomas Radice, Kathleen Rondinone.

Guests: Marianne Kennedy and Deborah Weiss.

PRAC continued its discussion of the latest version of the Program Review Task Force Draft Document. PRAC members raised the following questions:

1. How does Program Review relate to the current assessment undertakings?
Marianne Kennedy answered this question by saying that the current undertakings are assessment related which are a part of Program Review.

2. What resources will be made available, specifically in the area of technology?
Marianne Kennedy answered this question by saying departments should be honest about what resources they need, but that theses resources may not be available.

3. Are 5-Year Course Rotation Plans realistic in all disciplines?
This question will be discussed at our next meeting.

During the meeting the document was analyzed. Several modifications were suggested by PRAC. These will be incorporated into the next version of the document which PRAC will review at their next meeting. After this next meeting, a draft will be sent to the Steering Committee of UCF.

1. Each department will make a presentation to PRAC (not the entire UCF body)
2. The UCF body will see an abridged report from the department and a report from PRAC. The full report from the department will be made available on the Office of Assessment web site.
3. The Office of Assessment will assist with surveys.
4. Currently Instruction and Curriculum are listed under one benchmark. PRAC felt they should be separated. This will be discussed at our next meeting.
