PRAC Meeting Minutes 3.13.08

Attending:  Tom Radice, Elena Schmitt, Susan Felsenfeld, Ray Mugno (chair), Patty Kahlbaugh, Kathleen Rondinone, Lisa Rebeschi, Mark Cameron (secretary). Guest: Marianne Kennedy

  1. The group continued to discuss proposed edits to the Academic Program Review Document Draft #10. One concern that was raised was what appears to be the lack of a systematic accounting by the university of minors.

A review process timeline was proposed:

  • PRAC receives program report during UCF meeting week; the report is reviewed during the following week
  • The department meets with PRAC
  • The draft PRAC report is prepared and sent to the department for review
  • PRAC votes on the review
  • UCF votes on the review

 

  • It was proposed that for reviews coming up in the fall an abbreviated format will be used.
  • Reviews currently listed first on the list will be moved to the end.
  • We briefly discussed offering training to departments and also possibly sending PRAC members for training this summer.
  • There was some discussion of what happens if a department does not pass the review.
  • Grad Council does not have rubrics that we can use as models so we will discuss developing these.
  • We may meet with Academic Standards to find out more about how they work and use what we can to develop our processes.
  • Marianne reminded us that the Annual CSUS Assessment Conference will be held at SCSU on April 18th and NEAN on March 28.
