Program Review and Assessment Committee

Minutes for 10-11-2007

Present:  Mark Cameron, Cynthia Coron,  Ray Mugno ( Chair / recorder), Radha Narumanchi, Thomas Radice, Lisa Rebeschi, Elena Schmitt.

We welcomed another new member, Cameron, and introduced him to PRAC's history and procedures.

We discussed the Program Review Task Force Draft Document. This document would define PRAC in a similar fashion to the Academics Standards Committee of the Graduate Council. We also discussed how PRAC members should be selected, should all PRAC members also be members of UCF, how many members PRAC should have, and if a member from each school should be represented on PRAC, provided the document is ratified. Concerns were expressed as to whether certain elements of program review are curricular in nature and therefore should be under the jurisdiction of UCF.

We also discussed the memo from the Provost about Program Review. It was the general opinion of the body that this document is being enacted by department chairs. The second deadline of the memo is for departments to have 3 outcomes by the end of this month.

At our next meeting, we will discuss whether or not to apply for a faculty development grant to run assessment workshops. We will invite Marianne Kennedy to a future meeting to discuss the state of the Program Review Taskforce document.
