Elementary Education Proposal
Proposal to change the All-University Health requirement from
either PCH 100, PCH 201, or SHE 203 to SHE 203 only, applicable to
students with one major in Elementary Education. This change will
affect programs in Early Childhood, Elementary Education, Middle School
Education, and Elementary/Special Education (program in process).
APPROVED 5-0
Score Review
Camille sent word to UWIC that the UCF needed to reapprove the
Score program for continued recruitment of new classes. She reported
that UCF only approved new recruitment through the incoming class of
Fall 1999. Since Score is an alternative to the All-University
requirements, review and recommendations should come through UWIC.
Mike Shea asked for clarification since he thought that the
UCF had approved new classes through Fall 2000. In any event, UWIC
agreed to read and discuss Mike's assessment report at the next
meeting. His preliminary report is that Score should continue but
only with the resources to ensure proper recruitment of students and
appropriate faculty. Score needs a half-time administrator to make
the good intentions for the program a reality. He also wondered if
Score could or should continue to rely so heavily on adjunct faculty.
Score may not be out of step with the rest of the All-University
requirements program on this, but it may not be the ideal way to
run the program. Now, it is difficult to staff Score with full-
time faculty because of the extensive credit load commitment in the
program.
