Writing Board
UWIC recommended some topics for the Writing Board self-
assessment sub-committee.
 
In April, a UCF/UWIC/Writing Board sub-committee will meet with
VP Smith to consider charter revisions and appointments to the Writing
Board for next academic year.

Marketing Department Program Revision
Proposal to require Marketing majors to select COM 205 as their
University Requirement in Speech Communication.

APPROVED 6-0.

Exercise Science Proposal   
Proposal to require Exercise Science majors to select SHE 203
as their University Requirement in Health.  [Note:  this applies to
EXS majors in teacher certification.]

After lenghty discussion over the course of several meetings,
UWIC decided to approve the request.  Although in 1993 VP Pinciaro
stated that only art education and special education could select SHE 203
as their Health requirement, most secondary education programs have
been using SHE 203 as their Health requirement since then.  Rather than
overturn this practice, UWIC decided to include EXS based on:
1.  precedent to permit depts. to share in the teaching of
University Requirement courses (JRN now included in the
speech  communication requirement with COM)
2.  evidence presented by SHE that SHE 203 teaches personal
wellness, as well as teacher competencies
