University Wide Impact Committee  (UWIC)
Approved Minutes for November 16, 2000

Present: F. Harris, S. DiFrancesco, P. Beals, K. Swenson, R. Amenta, M. Hartog

Meeting started at 9:35 am

Rose Cretella attended the meeting to discuss CPR forms.  The Academic Advisement Center "keeps" the CPR forms.  She sees lots of problems with incomplete, incorrect CPRs.  Several Departments have incorrect CPRs.  Rose recommends we talk to Phil Smith and Lynn Kohrn about the CPRs. She recommends the hiring of a UA to handle the changes to the CPRs. Rose also said that all new students coming in now and coming in next summer are using CPR forms that have been set this November.  CPR forms are
updated only once a year.  There is also a problem of discrepancies between the CPRs and the catalog. The catalog is edited by the Chairs of the individual academic Departments.
Polly Beals asked what can this committee recommend. Rose answered that the solution may be to hire a UA to help overworked employees or maybe a full time Administrative Assistant to edit CPRs and manage the web site.  Roslyn Amenta recommended a letter of support from UCF/UWIC for this proposal.  Polly Beals recommended that UWIC/UCF and the Academic Advisement Center cosponsor a set of proposals for managing CPRs.  Rose brought up the question of how information goes from UCF to the
Registrar. Rose says to find out what UWIC can do to facilitate communication between UCF and the Registrar.  It is important to realize that these "recommendations"  are pending. Nothing has been settled and no vote has been taken at this time.  Frank Harris will contact Phil Smith and Lynn Kohrn to discuss this.

UWIC next discussed the CMD 200L proposal. This proposal was tabled until we receive writing samples that are supplied to students. Frank Harris will contact the department.

UWIC adjourned at 10:50.

Respectfully submitted,
Katherine A. Swenson
Secretary for UWIC
