Proposal for EDU 308 "L" designation:
J. Buzzel & N. Marano discussed the rationale for the L designation citing comprehensive book analysis papers, as the focus for this course.  Class size is typically 6-8 students permitting ample opportunity for instructor feed-back.  Revision of written work is part of the course design; each of the three required book analyses (20pages each) should reflect improvement based on previous work.  The committee recommended that a more specific grading rubric be added to the course syllabus to clarify the grading process for the book analysis portion of the course.  This minor revision has been approved as a "good faith" revision based on the fact that students are already doing this work in the course, and should receive credit as an "L" course. The revised syllabus should be submitted to UWIC in the fall.  If the revision is incompatible with the spirit of this recommendation, the "L" designation will be rescinded.

Revised Proposal for ENG 217:

D. Sonnenschein presented the proposed change for the ENG 217  prototype.  Discussion related to the concept of an "envelope course" that would fit the needs for all ENG 217 sections.  The committee assumes that the ENG dept provides a policy for meeting course goals and outcomes for all ENG 217 designates. The DCC should have all new sections assessed.  The committee defers this issue to UCF: Can envelope courses such as this exist?
