UNIVERSITY WIDE IMPACT COMMITTEE

Minutes Of Thursday, February 7, 2002
University Student Center, Room 207

Present:  Frank Harris (chair), Rosalyn Amenta, Christine Barrett, Shelly Bochain, Sandy DiFrancesco, Terese Gemme, Marty Hartog, Kathy Swenson.

Recorder:  Frank Harris

Call to Order:  9:40 a.m.

There was no business to conduct other than the selection of a new chair.  Frank Harris announced to the committee by e-mail the following:

I will have to step down as UWIC chair and member of UCF and the Steering Committee.  It's sudden, I know.  What it comes down to is that the unexpected teaching overload I have just assumed in my department, combined with my role as journalism chair and a gazillion other responsibilities have make it difficult to find time in the day - and night - to do all of the things I need to do.  After nearly eight years with the UCF (formerly UCIC) and 1-1/2 years as chair of UWIC, I am confident that the main body and the subcommittee will continue to move forward and achieve their goals.  I would like to use Thursday's meeting to help select a new chair.

The committee nominated two members to be co-chair, Terese Gemme (Music) and Shelly Bochain (Nursing).  An e-mail vote after the meeting resulted in their selection as the co-chairs.

Of the nine members voting, their selection was unanimous.
