University Wide Impact Committee Minutes of 3/7/02

  1. Discussion topic:  Committee role "monitoring of AUR's". 
    Some AUR's don't run for several years.  Students seek variety in AUR's, limited selection when AUR's are listed but never run as courses.  Administration is charged with the authority to monitor the availability of AUR courses. 
    Suggestion: that AUR's that don't run for five years or more should be considered inactive, but when reactivated be submitted to UWIC as a revised AUR.
  2. Revision of UCF Constitution Draft, section 4. University-Wide Impact Committee:

4a.  Receives, considers, and evaluates new and revised course proposals pertaining to All-University Requirements (AUR).  The committee shall be guided by the UCF responsibility to fulfill the academic purposes of SCSU and shall evaluate proposals for their consistency with University mission and with academic quality.  The committee shall also evaluate proposals for completeness, accuracy, and compliance with UCF guidelines and standards.

4b.  Receives, considers and evaluates course proposals pertaining to All-University Requirements (AUR).

4c.  Periodically reviews the existing All-University Requirement program.  Initiates or receives, considers and evaluates proposals concerning the structure of the AUR program.

4d.  Mediates, reviews and makes recommendations concerning courses and issues that have university wide impact, including but not limited to "L" courses.

4e.  Encourages dialogue and supports informal activities among faculty, related to university wide curricular issues.
