Discussion related to Deans List Criteria.

The issue of credit load for junior and senior level students in certain programs is problematic.  The qualifications for Deans List, appears to be based on the notion of a "traditional, on-campus" college student.  The SCSU student body does not fit the "traditional college student" description.  The issue of Full Time status is defined by departmental programs.  Presently FT students in some professional programs do not qualify for Deans List designation despite high academic achievement.

The committee raised many questions related to this issue:

How many students are on the collective Deans List each semester?

What grades do Deans List students achieve at the top 10% cut-off level?

How do similar institutions structure criteria for Deans List designation?

Is the ranking system (top 10%) the best method, and if so should the ranking be university-wide, school-wide or within a department?

Where is the Deans List posted?

Member of the committee will request information from their respective Deans about the present process, and any issues they would like the committee to consider.
