University Curriculum Forum Subcommittee Minutes

University Wide Impact Committee Minutes: 2/3/05 (revised)

Chair:         Nikolaos Chrissidis

Attending:  S. DeFrancesco, K. Gatzke, S. Jackson, C. S. Kim, K. Laing, N. Marano, W. O'Brien

Started: 9:40am

The chair welcomed the committee back for the Spring 2005 semester.

The committee discussed the UCF chair directive to review the directions for course proposal forms.

After much discussion, the committee requested that the chair find out: 1)The catalogue publication deadlines from Public Affairs;  2) The timeline for the Flow of Proposals from  the Deans, Vice President for Academic Affairs, and the School Curriculum Committees;  3) The times that the School Curriculum Committees meet.

The committee discussed several points of revision to the new and revised course proposal forms.  One of the revisions involves stating that titles lengthier than 29 characters (including spaces) should include an abbreviated title, as well as the original title, for the convenience of the Registrar's Office.  Additionally, it was suggested that course proposals be submitted at least one year prior to the initial offering of proposed courses.

The committee will present its decisions to UCF after receiving all the necessary information from the chair.

The meeting adjoined at 10:45am.
