University Wide Impact Committee

Minutes of: September 9, 2004.

Present: Sandy DiFrancesco, Ken Gatzke, Shirley Jackson, Chang Suk Kim, Kim Laing, Nancy Marano, Wes O'Brien, Pat Whelan, Nikos Chrissidis (chair).

Meeting started with a brief overview of the committee's work during the academic year 2003-04.  Mention was made of the committee's specific charge to consider courses that fulfill AURs.

Discussion then focused on two issues discussed last year, the reform of the Deans' List and plagiarism/academic dishonesty.  After consulting this year's Academic Programs' Catalog, members noticed that the recommendations made last year by UWIC (and approved by UCF) were not included in the current catalog.  UWIC wonders why the changes approved were not instituted.  Members agreed to bring up the issue with UCF.

On the topic of plagiarism/academic dishonesty: a Faculty Senate subcommittee has been working on it, and therefore UWIC would not wish to duplicate the effort.  However, members expressed their willingness to consider the matter further, if so asked.
