University-Wide Impact Committee

I. Call to Order
The meeting was called to order at 9:40am.
II. Old Business
The standing committee continued discussion over the topic of whether the creation of HON 494 (Honors thesis prospectus) would replace the practice of departments using their "499" independent study class to cover students writing their honors thesis prospecti. In particular, the standing committee discussed the topic of how this issue might affect the allocation of credit for instructors teaching outside their departments.
The standing committee then discussed the topic of undergraduate minors. In particular, the standing committee discussed how the banner system might be used by departmental chairs and program directors to flag and notify potential minors.
III. New Business
The following courses, as originally proposed by the Chemistry department, passed by a vote of 7 yeas, 0 nays, 0 abstentions.
CHE 101 (Chemistry in Contemporary Issues) and CHE 103 (Crime Scene Chemistry)
