Writing-Across-the-Curriculum Committee (WACC)
October 16, 2008
9:35 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.

1. Meeting called to order at 9:40 a.m. and Introductions

2. The amended minutes of the October 2nd meeting were approved unanimously.

3.  General Education Curriculum Proposal
• K. Marsland began the discussion by acknowledging the tremendous effort of N. Henderson, Jim Tate and all members of the General Education Reform task force.
• Nicole Henderson presented information regarding the proposal to merge ENG 111 with the INQ class.  She provided a brief history of course sequencing in the English Department and the impact of the revision on the ENG department.  She hopes to have a written document put together by next week for WACC and UCF to review.  Overall, N. Henderson indicated the proposal is intended to prepare students in a more effective manner with more efficient use of staff.
• K. Marsland will ask the English department for copies of the English composition program, along with a list of course objectives.
• K. Marsland requested that the committee think about whether they would like to take a position as a whole committee regarding the approval of the proposal. This will be discussed at the next meeting.

Course: PSY 393 Experimental Methods in Psychology
Faculty: Julia Irwin
Committee Recommendation: Approve, pending written clarification by Monday 10/20 via email.  Committee will submit vote by Tuesday 10/21 at 5:00.
Committee Vote: 6/0 approval; K. Marsland recused.

5.  D. Petroski reviewed progress with development of Wiki, and the general process for use. He will "invite" the committee to participate.  The committee will use the Wiki as the primary tool for generation of revised W-proposal guidelines and forms.

6.  Issues needing attention at future meetings:
Look at Wiki
Shoot for revised W-proposal guidelines and forms to be completed by November 6.
Prepare to accept electronic submissions by end of academic year pending technical support for this transition.
