International Studies Abroad (ISA)
International Studies Abroad offers students the chance to do many things: study away in one of their nearly 30 partnered countries; internships at major companies and non-profits around the world; and diverse service learning opportunities in countries like Morocco, Jordan, Ireland and more.
ISA believes that community engagement and personal relationships create the most effective and affecting service learning experiences. Their programs reflect this commitment to student and community development, and require students to meet a number of criteria before and during the program. Students will volunteer 15-35 hours per week at their volunteer site, and will log their hours, program activities and projects for their final portfolio.
ISA also offers the easiest path to course credit through their Study + Service Learning options. Students who choose to do both would have their volunteer hours scheduled around their courses, and would receive those classes as transfer credits to SCSU.
Although most of ISA's programs are not faith-specific, a partnership with Veritas provides mission trips for students of faith hoping to couple religious outreach with community assistance. Click here for more information.
